The blues were however happy to sit back from that moment, restricting the Saints to very few clear cut chances.The closest the hosts came to the back of the net was a Tadic free kick that was expertly palmed away by Courtois.Moses had a shot deflected by Chelsea's first corner before goalscorer Hazard had a trademark shot saved by Forster.The goalkeeper got down quickly few minutes later to deny Costa a chance to put us 2:0 with only a minute of first half minute left.
2nd Half
Fonte slid a Marcos cross away with Hazard lurking behind.It was Diego Costa however who scored our second of the evening. The Spaniard drifted past a marker and sent a curling shot to the top right corner for his eighth goal of the season.The blues dominated proceedings from then on and asked questions of the hosts throughout the game.
Following a fierce Victor Moses shot,Costa was played in by Hazard for a simple tap in but the Spaniard laid off for compatriot Pedro who had to go back under pressure from a sea of red shirts. Man of the match Hazard went close with another effort shortly before Pedro was subbed off for Willian.Willian skewed a shot wide after a combination of Hazard and Alonso had set him up.
Thibaut Courtois had a threat to a 380 minutes of shut out correctly waved off for offside when Austin thought he had pulled one back for his side.
It ended 2:0 in favour of the blues and a fourth win and clean sheet for the boys in blue.
