Rz Pellets 0 vs 3 Chelsea Match Report
Scorers : Bertrand Traore 40' , Ruben Loftus-Cheek 84' ,Nathaniel Chalobah 90'
Two goals scored in the closing stages and one scored just before half-time gave Antonio Conte his first win as Chelsea manager.
Having lost last time out against Wien,a win was surely needed to restore a confident mood both in the training camp and on the hearts of all Chelsea faithfuls. The manager made three changes to the team which started the last game with Baba Rahman,Mikel and Ruben Loftus-Cheek being replaced by Ola Aina,Oscar and Traore respectively.
The blue controlled proceedings from kick off and were denied an early goal when Victor Moses curling shot hitting the upright.Traore almost subsequently soon lifted the ball too high after Wolfsberger had gone close at the other end.A tackle from behind denied Diego Costa the chance to put the blues ahead after he had been played through by Willian. The goal however did arrive in the 40th minute as Bertrand Traore bundled home from close range from a Willian cross to make it 1:0 marking the first goal of the Antonio Conte era.
It should have been two by halftime had Kofler not denied Costa with a one-handed save.
Branislav Ivanovic was the only half-time substitute with Conte prefering to continue with the squad that had done well in the first-half Baba being his replacement.Further changes however arrived with Michael Hector and Ruben Loftus Cheek coming on to replace Papy Djilobodji and Bertrand Traore.
Michy Batshuayi who was not named on the team-sheet also came on to replace Diego Costa in attack.
Wolfsberger defended as a unit but the blues were not be denied a second goal as substitute Ruben Loftus Cheek headed home from a Victor Moses Corner kick.Batshuayi thought he had opened his Chelsea account only to be denied by the offside flag having been played in by Ruben. The third goal came in added time with an individual effort from Chalobah who weaved past two defenders before picking out the bottom corner.
In the end it was a much needed win with the squad now having to return to Cobham in few days ahead of our US tour to take part in the International champions Cup.
Well Done Blues!
