The versatile player joined Antonio Conte's charges on deadline day and here are some facts we gathered about him.

1.Marcos Alonso Mendoza is of Spanish descent (Madrid).

2.His grandfather Marcos Alonso Inaz played first team football at Real Madrid for eight years while his father Marcos Alonso Peña played for Atletico Madrid and Barcelona while playing in the Spanish top-flight (pictured below).

3.Marcos plays primarily as a left-back but can operate as part of a two man midfield.

4.He made only appearance for Real Madrid first team against Racing Santander in a 2:0 win.He however spent three years with the Spanish side's B team 2008-10.



5.Marcos has Premier League experience playing for Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland.He was named Bolton player of the year during the 2012-13 season.

6.He has not made an appearance for the Spanish senior team but has four caps with the U19's.A stint with Chelsea could be rewarded with a first national team call-up alongside seasoned Spanish Blues - Cesc Fabregas,Diego Costa,Pedro Rodriguez, Cesar Azplicueta.
