Arsenal Vs Chelsea Match Preview

It's the second derby of the campaign but this time away from Stamford Bridge after we were handed another derby, yet away from home against West Ham in the EFL Cup.

Winning 4:2 after conceding twice in the first half for the second game running definitely wasn't the best way to get over the loss against Liverpool however the victory was always attributable to a spine of fighting spirit back in the team and was absent last term.

Saturday's host at teatime had to dispatch their third round minnows without the tussle of added minutes though it would be wise to say that our game on Tuesday ended when Fabregas bagged his brace. The Gunners netted four against Nottingham Forest but should not be expecting the galore when we make the short trip this weekend.

Arsenal are slightly placed above the blues in the league standings  and a victory will move us back into the top four.

The Gunners are in a rich vein of form having lost once this campaign (same as the blues) against the same opponents.

The blues have gone ten League games without tasting defeat against Arsenal with eight clean sheets. In fact ,it was on October 29th 2011 that Saturday's hosts recorded their last league victory against Chelsea.

During our turbulent 2015/16 we recorded victories both home and away.
The first leg at Stamford Bridge was settled by a Kurt Zouma header from a Cesc Fabregas inch perfect free kick, and a deflected Eden Hazard strike. The Gunners had two men sent off for bookable offences.

The reverse fixture at the Emirates ended also in favor of the blues as Diego Costa netted the only goal of the game from a Fabregas corner kick only twenty six minutes into the game.

Team News

Antonio Conte will surely be making changes to the team that ousted the Foxes in extra time but match winner Fabregas should surely be on the team sheet from kickoff with recent performances revealing that his creativity is clearly needed in the middle of the park. The Spaniard has a wonderful spark with inform striker Diego Costa and their combo will definitely be causing problems to the Arsenal's defence should he make the XI.

The Gunners summer arrivals Xhaka and Lucas Perez are in fine form but shouldn't find joy in taking on a Chelsea defence that could witness a return of skipper John Terry.'We missed his organization' lamented Conte after the loss at Liverpool.

Five goals in five games striker Costa will be hoping to continue his fine form against the Gunners having netted twice in our last three meetings.

Go Blues !
