Revealed : Why Chelsea's 3-4-3 Is Unplayable

The blues are on a run of five consecutive victories and shut-outs but the feat was achieved only after Chelsea suffered defeat in two big games against Liverpool and Arsenal in September.

The huge upturn in form is mainly attributable to Conte's switch from a 4-1-4-1 and 4-2-4 system to a solid 3-4-3 setting.

This new system stretches to a five man attack when the blues are in the opposition half while retreating to a five man defence when the opposition attacks. The team presses high up the pitch and wins the ball back pretty earlier and easier than at the beginning of the season.

A fan joked that Chelsea are playing with 12 men but in reality,it seems that was Conte's hidden motive.

A massive defense and attack means the blues do not have to sit back and defend for longer spells although the team can effectively do that as we saw in the first half against Southampton.

Conte has also selected a crop of players that suits the system seamlessly.

Summer returnee David Luiz features as the focal point in a three man defence. While the Brazilian was termed a panic buy by some disloyal fans, there are only few defenders enjoying the Premier League as much as he is.His ability to dictate the tempo of the game and playing the ball out of the back is unrivaled. His long range passes means attackers can receive the ball in the opposition half with little difficulty.Flanked by an ever improving Cahill and the reliable Azpi,Chelsea's back line has not conceded any goal in 500 minutes of topflight football.

The wingback role is the most energy tasking role in the 3-4-3 setting and while Marcos Alonso who had played in a similar role at Fiorentina is perfectly suited to the task,Victor Moses deserve plaudits for adapting to such a demanding role with relative ease. The wingbacks overlap on the attack and also track back to tackle opposition attackers simultaneously. They compliment a series of three defenders and three attackers. The duo of Victor and Marcos has been handed a starting role since the switch and their dynamism in attack and defence means it will take another great performance to dislodge both wingers.

The fulcrum of the system is the midfield pair of N'golo Kante and Nemanja Matic. The duo often switch places throughout the game supporting defence and attacks with fluidity.Matic has five assists to his name while N'golo Kante scored that beautiful goal against Manchester United.Chelsea's midfield pair have struck a perfect understanding between them explaining while past season performers Cesc Fabregas and John Obi Mikel are consigned to the bench.

A 3-4-3 system allows the attackers to focus on their primary role which is to run at the opposition defence and hit the back of the net in every game.
Eden Hazard,Willian,Diego Costa and recently Pedro has all been part of this unit which crowns the beauty of the 3-4-3 setting.

Since the inception of the system,Chelsea have netted 16 Times with 12 of those coming off the boots of Conte's  Lethal attackers.

Hazard has scored five goals in four consecutive games,Costa has scored in four out of the five games in which Chelsea has lined up in a 3-4-3 setting,Pedro has also assisted four and scored twice since then.

Whether it's gonna be a PHD or HDW Chelsea attackers are firing from all cylinders.

A victory over Hull City was the kick-off while Leicester City, Manchester United,Southampton and recently Everton who mimicked the 3-4-3 setting have all been convincingly beaten by Conte's tactical brilliance.Middlesbrough,Tottenham and Manchester City will be a stern test for the blues but the opposition manager's must find a way to stop the blues or watch them stroll to the title.
