The Nigerian midfield maestro has not featured in a competitive game for Chelsea under new boss Antonio Conte with reports suggesting Mikel lost his place in the team after choosing to represent his country ahead of Chelsea's US tour this summer,a decision that Conte doesn't quite agree with.
Conte recently suggested Mikel is nursing an injury but the midfielder has played for his nation during the international recess prompting questions on whether the Nigerian who is Chelsea's second longest serving player will leave the blues during winter.

However speaking ahead of the blues meeting with Spurs on Saturday evening,Conte said,

'Obi Mikel is not available,’
‘Obi is recovering from a muscular problem
and in the next week he will train with us.’
