Diego Costa's Tenth League Goal Sends Chelsea Top

The attacker made a predatory finish following a corner kick to secure three points for the blues who move to the top of the summit after twelve games.

Both managers named the same XI with Conte opting to field the same team for the fifth game running.

Adam Clayton was booked for an early foul on Eden Hazard as the hosts tried to deny Chelsea an early goal, something that has been characteristic in recent weeks.Moses had a shot deflected wide as the first real attempt for either sides in the game.Victor Valdes pulled off a save of the season contender just before the half hour mark to keep his side level. Hazard combined with Moses to set Pedro free inside the box,but his first time effort was tipped over the ball by the hosts goalie.Valdes was on hand again to save Marcos Alonso shot although play was interrupted as he collided with Fabio in the process of making the save.
Valdes was lost few minutes later as Costa gave Chelsea a deserved lead. The Spaniard capitalised on a erring corner kick defending from Boro to slot home what turned out to be the game's only goal.

After the restart, the blues nearly doubled their lead through Alonso but Valdes pulled off another smart save to deny the wing back who had been played through by Hazard.Cesar was booked for a late challenge on Ramirez with the resulting free kick failing to find its way past a solid Chelsea wall. The attacker shot well over few minutes later before another Chelsea move ended in Pedro hitting the crossbar.David luiz got forward to clip a clever pass to Costa who nodded down for Pedro to finish. His effort this time kept Valdes rooted to his spot but the crossbar did the work for him anyway.
Kante and Chambers went into the referee's book almost successively with the game getting more intense heading into the last quarter hour. The hosts then had their first sight at goal with Negredo flicking on a stray pass to shot towards goal.Courtois delivered a sumptuous match to the Spaniard's shot, his first save since the game against Everton. That was the last pint of real action as the blues saw off the game with relative ease.

The win means the blues are top of the league a point ahead of Liverpool who were held by Southampton this weekend.
