Conte : I Have No Problem With Mazzarri
The new Watford boss clashed with our new manager several times during their spells with Napoli and Juventus respectively in the Italian top-flight and meet up on Saturday when Conte takes his charges to Vicarage road for a league game.
Reports had claimed Walter Mazzarri accused Conte of using his formation when it appeared that Conte switched to a 3-5-2 instead of the 4-2-4 plan he had originally arrived with at Juventus.
Mazzarri however revealed that his words were misapplied.
'I said that while playing against us he changed his formation from the one he had preferred. It was a compliment.I meant to say that he was able to adapt to a determinate situation. He (Conte) and his assistants took that badly'.
'I always suspected that it was the work of the communications department to start the controversy. After that I received some importune words from Conte and Carrera.Conte is better than those words'.
What was turning out to be a feud got more intense when Conte's Juventus were awarded a controversial penalty in the closing stages of the 2012 Supercoppa Italiana with Napoli leading 2:1.Conte's team went on to win the game in extra time with Napoli having two players Pandev and Camilo as well as Mazzarri being sent off.Mazzarri ordered his players not to take part in the post match ceremony after loosing with a 4:2 scoreline.
Earlier Conte said after a league game
'We didn't even shake hands. We didn't even look at each other. Each to their own bench. It's better that way'.
Conte however in his press conference ahead of Saturday's game against the Hornets suggested that he was now in good terms with his counterpart
"I saw him in the meeting for managers and I spoke with him and his assistant coach about this experience because it is also a challenge for him".
It would be interesting to see if the two could at least share a handshake on the sidelines prior to kickoff on Saturday .
