Chelsea 4 vs 2 Werder Bremen Match Report

Scorers:Eden Hazard 7',Oscar 10',Pizarro 33',Diego Costa 45',Lennart Thy 65',Pedro 90'

Four goals from four different attacking players helped Chelsea past a spirited Werder Bremen team in our final game of pre-season.
Conte named an XI that could be expected in our Premier League opener against West Ham on Monday with Kante handed a starting berth alongside Nemanja Matic in the middle of the park. Ivanovic slotted in at right-back with Cahill,Terry and Azplicueta completing the back four.Eden Hazard,Oscar,Diego Costa and Willian were preferred to lead the attacking line of a 4-2-4 formation.
The blues were already 2:0 up in the opening ten minutes,Eden Hazard finishing off a corner kick with a trademark finish and Oscar rounding off a fluid Chelsea attack in the tenth minute.
Our opponents however pulled one back through a spot-kick by our former striker Claudio Pizarro after Matic tripped off a Bremen attack in the box.Junuzovic tried his luck from 30 yards out but his effort was matched by the outsretched fingertip of Thibaut Courtois who was enjoying a relatively quiet time in between the sticks.Diego Costa however restored our two-goal cushion with a confident finish having been played through by the lively Eden Hazard. So the scoreline was 3:1 at halftime with Matic and Kante doing plenty of hard-work in the midfield, halting opponent attacks and linking up play with our pacy attackers.

The second half began in similar fashion as the first with the blues dominating possession but failing to add to the scoreline.Oscar was unfortunate not to have found a way past the goalkeeper having been played through by Fabregas. It was a miss the team will soon regret as Lennart Thy slotted home from the right edge of the area to reduce our lead.Batshuayi,Moses and Pedro were introduced in a like to like change for Diego Costa,Hazard and Kante who had played all but the final ten minutes of the game.
Pedro got the last goal after a nice hold up play by Batshuayi who had been unfortunate in front of goal with two great chances. In all,it was an improved performance from Antonio Conte's charges and could set the tone for the new campaign which begins next week with West Ham the opponents.
Well-Done Blues
