European Blues : Round 3 Review


It has been a fruitful campaign thus far for Chelsea players in France with all taking their respective places in the knockout stages of the tournament
Gary Cahill played till the final whistle as England secured a 0:0 draw which let them finish as group runners-up after Wales trounced Russia 3:0.England will meet Iceland who finished as the best third placed team in group F.
Fabregas played all but six minutes as Spain suffered a 2:1 defeat to Croatia who topped group D as a result.Alvaro Morata gave Spain the lead in the seventh minute but goals from Kalinic and Perisic close to the end of halftime and full time condemned Spain  to their first European Championship defeat since their 1:0 loss to Portugal at Euro 2004.Cesar Azplicueta and Pedro Rodriguez were unused substitutes.Spain will come up next against Antonio Conte's Italy who topped group E.


Eden Hazard captained Belgium to a place in the knockout after a late Radja Nainggolan wonder strike secured a 1:0 win which knocked out Sweden and set up a crunch tie against Hungary who surprisingly topped group F.Eden Hazard laid on the assist for the Belgians only goal of the game with a cross to Radja, marking his second assist at the Championships before being withdrawn late on. Thibaut Courtois made a couple of saves to keep the scoreline at bay most notably from Marcus berg at the early stages of the game,racking up his second clean sheet.
